SPOTCana is a new web service from Spot Image and Infoterra dedicated to monitoring sugar cane plantations. Conceived for cane growers and the broader sugar industry, SPOTCana provides satellite imagery to make the daily task of managing cane crops much easier, from planting through to bio-ethanol production.

The 1st acquisition campaign is already underway in Brazil. Register now.

Service

Keep track of your order status at all times on the website, with your personal login and password. 

As soon as they are posted on line, you can download: 

  • an orthorectified 10-metre-resolution SPOT scene, tiled to cover your area of interest
  • two crop health status maps

You can thus view all your areas of interest and define your priorities.
And you can build up a crop growth record for each field over several seasons to improve yields.

Field-level information

The maps are detailed and easy to interpret, giving you precise information about the status of your plantations: 

  • the green vegetation map shows crop density and indicates healthy growth 
  • the dry vegetation map pinpoints crop problems and the degree of maturity at the end of the growth cycle

Combining all this information allows you to precisely ascertain crop growth, maturity and stress for timely decision-making.

 
How to obtain this service

Simply register on line at brazil@spotimage.com or contact Tokyo Spot Image.

You choose your area of interest (320 sq.km. minimum) and you will receive four batches of products (1 per period) characterizing crop growth throughout the growing season.

 
Price
-

The cost of the service is €1,000 per period, per tile (18 km x 18 km). This includes:

  • permanent access to the SPOTCana website for the period 
  • browsing and downloading of SPOT products (imagery and maps) 
  • technical and sales support

 

 
Where

The service currently covers Brazil but will be extended to other countries shortly.
