-

Hurricane Xynthia swept across several European countries between February 26th and March 1st 2010.

The combination of gale force winds and high tides led to a storm surge that caused extensive flooding in the Charente-Maritime and Vendée.

The flood destroyed many sea walls in the Vendée.
