INFOLITTORAL - Earth imaging tracking coastal dynamics
 |
Coastal zones are a magnet for human activities, with all the attendant transformations and infrastructures liable to upset fragile environmental balances. Lying at the crossroads of oceans and continents, they are especially vulnerable to the global impacts of climate change.
For the 9th call for projects from the French interministerial fund (FUI), Spot Image and its partners—Nevantropic, G.E.O. Transfert, CLS and the EPOC, IRD AMAP, ECOLAB and LOG joint research units—have combined their talents to develop an international service portfolio leveraging Earth-imaging technologies to monitor coastal environments.

INFOLITTORAL-1 : a first step
INFOLITTORAL-1 : a first step
The InfoLittoral-1 project is the preliminary phase of this undertaking that will focus on two pilot sites: the seaboards of France’s west coast in Aquitaine and French Guiana.
The project is designed to bring planners and decision-makers regular and reliable information that will give them greater insight into the interacting components of the littoral environment, thereby providing effective tools to inform decisions.
|
 |
The main objectives of InfoLittoral-1 are to: :
- Understand users’ needs and learn from their exploitation of geospatial data
- Define, develop and validate data products to inform decisions in areas connected to hydrodynamic and sedimentary forcing, geomorphology and characterization of continental coasts
- Establish an initial definition of the InfoLittoral service (specification and business model)
